"Starry night" watercolor by Katie SlossStar Festival Exhibition and Performances
Premiere: Kaji Aso Composers Award learn more
An event featuring and evening of new music, poetry, and artwork inspired by the theme of "Tanabata". This ancient Japanese legend is the story of 2 stars which are personified by a weaver princess and a shepard. Their love is so consuming that they forget their responsibilities and the king of heaven must force them apart. The king grants them one evening a year when they may meet and be together. The evening is an evening of celebration and passion, but when morning comes the two stars begin their journey apart.
Opening reception: July 7th, 7 - 9:30 performances begin at 8:30
