Watercolor class description: After a general introduction to the pure and transparent characteristics of watercolor as well as the layering of colors, we will begin to seek the true essence of nature, such as sunlight, cold moon and the smell of mud. Subjects include still life, landscape and our imagination. Students will be challenged to discover new aspects of the medium. There will be discussions related to the process of painting during each class. Sketching and drawing will be encouraged as a base of study for artistic vision.

Learn to draw, and you’ll have a great foundation to pursue painting, illustration, web design, animation, and more. Drawing is the most accessible form of visual art; it is both gratifying and challenging. In this class, you’ll learn to see the world around us as an artist sees it. Each week new exercises in basic design, shape, texture, composition. Gary starts with a demonstration creating a drawing in front of your eyes. You can follow along if you choose or watch the drawing come to life. This is followed by questions and answers and then a look at homework. Each session is recorded and that recording is made viewable to students after class. During the week students will submit their drawings and Gary will review them on-line and in class
